Flow

"Highly recommended...poetic look at Seattle on a wet morning."
John Hartl, Seattle Times

"Well-paced, well-shot, and put together with intelligence."
Andy Spletzer, The Stranger

Synopsis
A montage of one morning in the life of Seattle.  Music by Jeff Greinke.  Acquired by the City of Seattle for its Moving Images 2000 collection.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
The concept for "Flow" was inspired by the European urban montage documentaries of the late 1920s, specifically Vertov's "Man with a Movie Camera" and Ruttmann's "Berlin: Symphony of a City."  Like those silent films, "Flow" uses a purely visual narrative to capture the movement of water, people and machines into the city.  I also wanted to play with the illusion of movement created by the flow of still images flashing at 24 frames per second.
